Alef Aeronautics, manufacturer of electric flying cars, has just acquired the famous generative artificial intelligence ChatGPT. This technology will soon be integrated into the cabins of some clients of the car manufacturer DS. The tool will complement the DS Iris voice recognition system, allowing for direct interaction with a real assistant throughout the journey.
ChatGPT in your car, an infinite potential of possibilities
The idea is to offer a unique conversation experience on board, with access to useful information and the ability to accomplish a multitude of tasks. For example, it will be possible to ask ChatGPT to discover cultural places nearby or to entertain children by creating a quiz or telling a story on a specific topic.
ChatGPT will be offered to 20,000 volunteers who have the DS Iris system in their DS 3, DS 4, DS 7, or DS 9 vehicles. This is part of a six-month testing phase at no additional cost.
An improved and more responsive voice assistant thanks to artificial intelligence
Activated by a simple “Hey Mercedes,” the voice assistant equipped with artificial intelligence will allow for better responsiveness, as reported by Frandroid. Furthermore, according to the media Fredzone, Microsoft is studying ChatGPT plugins with the aim of making restaurant reservations and buying movie tickets.
So far, vehicles equipped with voice assistants could only respond to a precise set of questions aimed at adjusting the temperature, changing the radio station, or launching GPS navigation. Thanks to ChatGPT, drivers will be able to engage in genuine conversations with the robot while keeping their eyes on the road.
Stored and anonymized discussions for more security
Regarding data protection, the car manufacturer and Microsoft assure that discussions will be stored in the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud, where they will be anonymized and analyzed.
Looking to the future, DS innovates with the most advanced technologies
DS is constantly looking to integrate the latest technological advances into its vehicles to improve the comfort and safety of its customers. The arrival of ChatGPT in their cars is thus a testament to this commitment.
This collaboration between Alef Aeronautics, Microsoft, and DS could also strengthen the competitiveness of each company in their respective sectors and contribute to accelerating the widespread adoption of generative artificial intelligence in the automotive industry.
One step closer to ever more autonomous and intelligent vehicles
The integration of ChatGPT into the DS ranges demonstrates the manufacturer’s desire to push the boundaries of onboard technology. This initiative could also inspire other car brands to follow this path and thus give rise to a whole generation of vehicles equipped with personalized virtual assistants for optimal comfort.
This integration thus constitutes a first step towards the future of the automobile, where vehicles will be increasingly intelligent and autonomous. Drivers will then be able to fully enjoy their journey while benefiting from services tailored to their needs and discovering new possibilities offered by artificial intelligence.
