Ingka Group launches IKEA Kreativ*, an AI-based interior design solution, in France
The ingenuity of artificial intelligence (AI) has found a privileged field of expression in interior design. Indeed, Ingka Group, the world’s largest IKEA retailer, now offers the IKEA Kreativ* tool in France.
This is an interactive digital experience that allows customers to express their creativity through 3D modeling of their interior spaces and furnishing with IKEA furniture.
The Geomagical Labs technology confirms its international success
Born from the acquisition in 2020 of Geomagical Labs, a California-based company specializing in artificial intelligence, the IKEA Kreativ* platform relies on a set of innovative technologies. These include neural networks specifically trained to recognize objects and measure the dimensions of interior spaces.
Stereo vision algorithms provide a breathtaking 3D visualization experience, fully immersing users in their projects. Furthermore, thanks to 3D mixed reality and advanced photographic algorithms, IKEA Kreativ* allows users to erase all or part of the existing furniture in the room, thereby offering complete freedom to transform interiors.
IKEA Kreativ*, an immersive and playful experience thanks to artificial intelligence
By integrating these cutting-edge technologies, IKEA Kreativ* aims to revolutionize the interior design market in France. Customers can now discover IKEA products in over 50 virtual 3D showrooms directly from the IKEA.fr website.
In addition, with the IKEA Kreativ* Scene Scanner™ integrated into the IKEA app, you can create realistic and editable 3D reproductions of your own living spaces. To do this, simply take several photos of the chosen room so that they can be automatically assembled, generating an interactive wide-angle replica with precise dimensions and perspectives.
Once this step is completed, customers can remove existing furniture and place IKEA items to envision a new interior decor.
Sharing and exchanging around planning projects
Beyond the technical aspect, IKEA Kreativ* also wants to be a user-friendly platform for sharing and exchanging around interior design projects.
It allows users to save their ideas on their IKEA account, add desired items to the cart, and share their designs with family and friends to gather their feedback and advice. The possibilities offered by this new digital experience are therefore numerous, both for individuals and for professionals in search of an efficient and accessible tool for interior design.
An expanding offer in France
Launched on May 1, 2023, this innovation is available on the IKEA.fr website and represents an important step in the Swedish group’s expansion in France.
It also confirms its intention to continue online development by providing an increasingly enriched user experience thanks to the creative potential offered by artificial intelligence. Beyond France, an entire international market is gradually opening up to IKEA Kreativ*.
Indeed, recently updated on October 25, 2023, the virtual design platform has already been successfully deployed in several countries. The French public is thus expected to be won over by this perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and ease of use.
Towards a democratization of digital interior design solutions?
IKEA Kreativ* disrupts the usual codes of the interior design market in France. This fusion of the power of artificial intelligence and the imagination of users paves the way for a future where everyone can more easily design personalized and suitable interior spaces.
Interior design solutions could quickly become essential tools for creation for both individuals and professionals, thanks to increasingly innovative digital experiences.
